Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to groom my pet?
Grooming rates vary depending on the breed/size of your pet and the type of services you choose. As well as the condition of the coat, and the animals behavior.
What type of pets do you groom?
All breeds of dogs and cats. We have trained groomers who specialize in breed-specific cuts.
Do you use heated dryers?
We hand-dry pets after they have been bathed. The process involves brushing the coat to remove shedding hair, while blowing it dry with equipment similar to the hair dryer you might use at home. When the pets coat is almost dry, he may be put into a compartment where a high volume of ambient, room-temperature air is circulated. We NEVER add heat to the circulating air.
Do you tranquilize/sedate pets before you bathe or groom them?
We will not tranquilize/sedate a pet in order to groom it. Our stylists are well trained to handle nervous pets, and treat every pet with tender loving care. If a pet is too agitated to be safely bathed or groomed, our groomers will not attempt to force the service on the pet.
How often should my dog be professionally groomed?
This depends on several factors like the breed of dog, the type and length of the coat, and if the dog has a skin condition (allergies) or a coat problem (oily/dry). We usually recommend every 6-8 weeks.
How often should I brush my pet between salon visits?
Brushing is advisable at least 3 times per week to help keep coat clean and free of matts. Regular brushing removes debris, prevents tangling, and stimulates healthy hair growth.
How often should my pets nails be trimmed?
Puppy's nails should be trimmed every 2 weeks, older dogs nails should be checked and trimmed if needed monthly. As the nails grow so does the quick, if the nails are left for a long period of time without regular trimming you are only able to trim back the nails a little at a time. Cutting the quick is painful for the dog and it is best left for an experienced groomer. This service is free with a complete grooming appointment.
How often should my pets ears be cleaned?
Ears should be checked and cleaned weekly. Cleaning the ears with a dog specific ear cleaner on a tissue or cotton ball helps reduce the build up of wax and debris which can lead to ear disease.
How can hair matts be prevented/removed?
Regular brushing will help deter matting. Some matts can become severe, and cause pulling on your pets tender thin skin. Depending on the severity of the matts, they may be able to be brushed out, or may require shaving. It's best to let a professional deal with the matts, so as not to futher damage the skin underneath the matted area.
